About Green Playces: Wilkinsburg The Wilkinsburg Green Playce is complete.  We successfully turned Hosanna House's side yard into an outdoor education space along with some areas for active play for the kids. On November 21, we successfully held a dedication ceremony to officially open the Green Playce Wilkinsburg site. Over 140 youth and adults helped build out the site and 300 hours of volunteer service!

Green Playces: Munhall

Grounded is continuing our partnership with Propel Schools by partnering with Propel Andrew St in Munhall, PA. This spring, we have installed a brand new, 8 ft by 16 ft greenhouse, performance stage, and garden beds. Students in 9th grade science classes at the high school will be using the space for various horticulture experiments, outdoor performances and more!

Bootcamp ’16

Blight Bootcamp is a two day event for residents to learn about resources and best practices to increase the impact of community-led blight elimination efforts in Pittsburgh neighborhoods. The first Blight Bootcamp took place on November 7th, 2015. The event was put together by the City of Pittsburgh, Neighborhood Allies, GTECH, PCRG, URA, and The Design Center Pittsburgh. Garden on Gearing

The Garden on Gearing is a small community garden in the neighborhood of Beltzhoover. The garden was designed and created by Gordon Hodnett with the help of local community groups and neighbors. It contains several raised garden beds, an in-the-ground garden bed, a trellis system from growing berries, a community bulletin-board, and fruit trees. As a civic leader and pastor in a food desert community, Cheryl knew she wanted to make a difference by beginning her own community food garden. In partnership with the church where she pastors, Cheryl set out to implement a thriving food garden, complete with a dozen planting beds and a play area for local kids.
