Lots to Love in Pittsburgh

There are more than 27,000 vacant lots in the Pittsburgh area. At GTECH, we believe that each vacant lot is an opportunity–to have a conversation with a neighbor, to build a garden, to encourage creativity, to connect to something bigger, and to grow a community. But we need people like you to help turn those opportunities into realities.

ReClaim Ambassador Program

The Ambassador model is core to GTECH’s programming and mission. This model employs residents from neighborhoods with high levels of vacancy, educates them on topics ranging from site access to green infrastructure, then provides seed funding for them to implement their own vacant lot greening project.

This video series chronicles the 2014 ReClaim South Ambassador program.

Two Wheels Lots of Green

On August 11, 2012, GTECH hosted more than 50 bikers on a tour of GTECH’s vacant land project sites in East Liberty, Homewood, Larimer, Wilkinsburg and Millvale. Through a grant provided by the German Marshall Fund, GTECH was able to produce videos highlighting the transformation of vacant spaces to vibrant places as well as highlight the community development work of residents and organizations that made the projects possible.
