Green Playces: Homewood

The Homewood Green Playce is located on Fleury Way, between Homewood Avenue and Sterrett Street. The site, owned by Bible Center Church, is centered around ideas such as outdoor cooking, strategy games, food entrepreneurship, and artistic decoration. Design Our kid-centered design process led to a few options for this Green Playce, including an outdoor kitchen, a space for educational games, and an art-filled space for imagination and adventure.

Friendship Circle Rooftop Garden Programming

As a part of an annual partnership with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, GTECH and community partners work to activate one of the over 500 vacant lots along the marathon route. ReClaim the Route: Homewood Sunflower Project

In 2013, we planted our largest sunflower project to date in partnership with Operation Better Block and The Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon. Operation Better Block’s Junior Green Corps assisting in greening up a lot located on Frankstown and Collier in Homewood. The plantings totaled more than 11,000 square feet.
