Wethoptober 2015 Wrap Up!

Over 100 people attended Wethoptober in celebration of applied innovation in the form of local hops cultivation.

Thank you everyone who supported GTECH through the Wethoptober fundraiser. We enjoyed sampling hopped libations from Wigle Whiskey and East End Brewery, autumnal bites from Berlin Street Foods and having great conversation about the work of GTECH.

Each guest got a GTECH “g” jar to sample three hopped beers from East End Brewery, including their Pedal Pale Ale, Big Hop Harvest Ale and specially wet hopped Cream Ale. Wigle Whiskey kept us warm with hot toddy’s while giving demonstrations of their seasonal hopped whiskey and offered each guest a hopped whiskey cocktail.  It was great to connect with long-time supporters of GTECH and also make new friends.  Together we raised $3,000 to support GTECH’s Applied Innovation Programming.

Applied Innovation is GTECH’s program to research and develop new tools, partnerships, and value added products to improve the social, environmental and economic health of communities.  The program has grown since piloting growing hops on vacant land with the Hops on Lots project to building outdoor classrooms with Green Playces and launching an interactive online resource for reclaiming vacant land Lots to Love.  We look forward to sharing the future of these projects and progress made from your support.

Please Join us for our next event featuring Lots to Love with the Pittsburgh Blight Bootcamp, hosted by the Pittsburgh Blight Working Group.  Your ongoing trust, enthusiasm and support fuels our efforts more than you know.  Cheers!
