Welcome Miranda!

Hello! My name is Miranda Micire. I am thrilled to start my internship here with GTECH through the University of Pittsburgh’s Master’s of Social Work program. I am starting my first year in the Community Organizing and Social Action (COSA) program and will also be pursuing a joint degree in Public Administration through GSPIA.

I am a Pittsburgh native that moved to Dayton, Ohio to attend the University of Dayton for my undergraduate degree. During my time in Dayton, I became involved in a variety of different programs as a volunteer during my 4 years there. The one that impacted me the most was my Semester of Service. I put classes on hold for a semester and was a full-time volunteer at a nonprofit organization. I worked at Homefull, an organization that serves the homeless population through a variety of services. Specifically, I worked at a men’s homeless shelter as an employment case manager, assisting individuals with every aspect of the tedious job search. This experience inspired me to pursue my MSW degree and exposed me to the life-long struggles individuals face resulting from the cycle of poverty. I am passionate about helping build capacity on individual and community-wide levels.

At GTECH I will be working mainly on the pilot program, CommunityCare, where we will equip and train community members in Homewood to maintain green spaces in their neighborhood.

During my free time you can find me practicing yoga (or falling on my face) attending spin classes, going on random walks, and drinking way too much coffee.

I look forward to my time here at GTECH! Thanks for reading.
