We’re Back! ReClaim Clairton 2.0 is Almost Here!

Gearing up for ReClaim Clairton 2.0

It is hard to believe that the first year of our ReClaim Clairton Ambassador program has come to a close. We are so excited and proud of the accomplishments that our Ambassadors have achieved over the past 12 months.

ReClaim Clairton 2016 – 2017

The ReClaim Ambassador model builds the knowledge and capacity of residents to design, organize and lead vacant lot revitalization efforts. The 2016-2017 Clairton ReClaim Ambassador Program has engaged, equipped, and empowered 12 Clairton residents as Ambassadors. The Ambassadors participated in a 10 month long place-based training program resulting in the transformation of 7 community public spaces. We celebrated these achievements last month during the Ambassador Graduation Ceremony at Clairton City Hall.

ReClaim Clairton 2017 – 2018

The second phase of the ReClaim Clairton project intends to build on this success by using events, programming, and additional site amenities to activate these community spaces. Our goal is to:

(1) Implement Ambassador training on sustainment, fundraising, and activation strategies,
(2) Activate and reinvest in existing Ambassador sites by hosting events and adding additional amenities,
(3) Engage Clairton youth by facilitating a Jr. Ambassador program on vacant lot remediation, and
(4) Construct one new Ambassador site to be implemented by Jr. Ambassadors.

We will be re-engaging Ambassadors and partners this fall to be sure that all of our goals meet the wants and needs of Clairton residents. We are especially excited to help the Ambassadors utilize their sites for public events, celebrations, and much more! So stay tuned for next years festivities! They will be announced through our social media (@GTECH Strategies)  and website calendars!
