Combining the Giving Power of Individuals with Companies

An estimated $6 to $10 billion in matching gift funds goes unclaimed per year.

The GTECH Social Capital Council is a cadre of energetic and socially conscious professionals who actively support and promote GTECH. It is a way for those who don’t necessarily work in the social sector to connect with community development activities, green economy issues and other sustainability projects. Council members promote and support GTECH through projects, events and contributions.

We find that many members are combining their giving power with their companies to donate matching gifts. Matching gifts double the impact of your contribution without doubling the effort. 65% of Fortune 500 Companies and many other smaller companies match employee donations to a wide range of nonprofits. 80% of companies’ matching gift maximums fall between $500 and $10,000 annually per employee. Yet the median employee participation rate for matching gift programs is 9%. Matching gifts are a resource that many employees often overlook. Extensions of corporate philanthropy, matching gift programs are designed to be the means by which companies support the causes employees care about most.

When donating to GTECH’s $15k for $15k in 2015 campaign—take a moment to check if your company will offer a match to increase your impact.
