Palisades Butterfly Garden

Sharon Soles was inspired to make the Palisades Butterfly Garden for several reasons. Her parents met at the Palisades during McKeesport’s glory days, it also has a rich history and is located in the heart of McKeesport. With her project, she aspires to share her personal connection with the site as well as the historical significance with current residents and newcomers.

Sharon created a space that local organizations can use as an outside meeting and event space.

She is excited to reclaim the city that she loves and is looking forward to obtaining valuable information and connections to reclaim the city in many different ways.

“We have hope. We can overcome our situation if more people would get involved.”

ABOUT ME

My hometown is McKeesport, PA and I have lived there for 25 years. I worked for GNC in retail management for 14 years until I retired. I am married and have four grandchildren. I decided to get involved so that I can help reclaim the city that I love and assist community members working with vacant lots and properties. I am looking forward to obtaining valuable information and connections to reclaim the city in many different ways. For my project I am looking to work on a garden that has trees, benches, and flowers.
