Pittsburgh, We Need Your Cans for Marathon Day! Posted on April 17, 2015 by Grounded Strategies Share this post For a one-of-a-kind event for Pittsburgh Marathon Day! For the past few years GTECH has partnered with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon to activate a vacant lot along the marathon route in Homewood. This year the vacant lot is along Frankstown Ave. Clean Up Day – April 24 GTECH, along with 50 other Fed EX Ground employees, will clean up the space and plant a community garden with Operation Better Block in Homewood. Race Day – May 3 On race day, Canstruction Pittsburgh will be building a one-of-a-kind sculpture made entirely out of donated canned food from Whole Foods Market. After race weekend, the sculpture will be dismantled, and the food will be donated to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. How you can help. 1. Shop at Whole Foods Market in Pittsburgh Purchase 365 Everyday Value canned goods and drop them off at the ReClaim the Route donation bin by the exit of the store. Our goal is 3,000 cans! All cans will be donated to the Great Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. 2. Sign up to help build a giant can sculpture. Come watch the Marathon Homewood– voted #1 place to watch the marathon for the last 3 years– and help Canstruction build a giant can sculpture. Click here to sign up to volunteer on race day.
