Posted on August 10, 2015 by Grounded Strategies Share this post Pittsburgh Nonprofit Hosts Event Combining Biking and Community Development in Conjunction with Bike PGH’s Bike Fest PITTSBURGH–GTECH’s fourth annual fundraising bike tour and post-ride celebration will be held Saturday, August 22, 2015 starting at 2PM at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse at 1055 Spring Garden Ave. The day will kick off with a bike tour highlighting GTECH’s vacant land reclamation sites and other resident-driven community projects throughout the Northside’s 18 neighborhoods. The bike tour is followed by an after event at the Wigle Whiskey Barrelhouse. Registration for the bike tour is $15 and participants may select a family-friendly 7 mile route or a more advanced, hilly 14 mile route. During the tour riders will also sample from rest stop Northside-based restaurants – Fabled Table, Bistro to Go and Chateau Cafe and Cakery. In addition bike powered smoothies will be offered by Green Mountain Energy. The after event is free and will offer food from food trucks and beverages for purchase as well as music by local band – White Like Fire. Participants can register online. Funds raised will go towards GTECH’s work in reclaiming vacant land for community green spaces in the Greater Pittsburgh Region. Started in 2012, Two Wheels Lots of Green is a bike tour of GTECH’s reclaimed urban green spaces throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Region. The tour accommodates all levels of riders – from families with young children to casual riders interested in community development to avid cyclists.
