Geared Up and Grounded: Bike Tour & Block Party

This year's 8th Bike Tour & Block Party event will feature Grounded's projects in Pittsburgh's eastern neighborhoods (East Liberty, Larimer, Homewood, and Wilkinsburg). At each stop, we will speak to community partners, learning about their journey and the transformation of vacant spaces into activated places. For those who do not have a bike, Healthy Ride bikes will be available for use! Prior to the start of the bike tour local bike shop, Waxwing Cycles will be there to provide free bike inspections.…

Build a Rain Garden in Hazelwood

Come out and join the Grounded GSI team as we construct a rain garden to help capture stormwater from a nearby roof! Tasks to include digging, planting, moving mulch, and other physical activities. This year's SolarFest will be on Sunday, June 23rd at the Frick Environmental Center located at 2005 Beechwood Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15217 from 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. There will be an electric vehicle car show, food trucks, music and information on solar, energy efficiency, efficient solar home design, community solar projects and ways to strengthen Pennsylvania’s renewable energy laws. The food trucks featured at this event include Pittsburgh Halal, Millie's Ice Cream, and Pittsburgh Taco.

Join us for our volunteer day with The Mission Continues, Morning Star Baptist Church, and the greater Hazelwood community as we further revitalize the church and make upgrades to a once vacant lot. We will be painting, building picnic tables, laying gravel and mulch, and more. All ages and abilities are welcome! Breakfast, coffee, lunch, water, t-shirts, and all tools provided.
