LISC Safety & Justice – Collaborative Approaches for Safe Places

LISC Safety & Justice will present on their model of collaborative problems solving to address neighborhood crime and safety challenges, including discussion of why we should concentrate on place, the problem-solving process, the roles of community partners, and what success can look like. This method incorporates proven crime reduction strategies with relationship- and capacity-building approaches to support sustainable neighborhood improvement. The webinar will include an overview of the Alameda CountyEden Night Live project, a LISC partnership with ArtPlace America to address community and public safety issues using creative placemaking. Bess Earl, a former LISC partner, with United Methodist Children’s Services, and current Milwaukee LISC employee, will discuss a comprehensive safety partnership in the Washington Park community and how concentrating on housing and community spaces helped a community rally for growth and safety.
