Odera Igwe

Project Coordinator

Pronouns: she/her/hers
Odera Igwe was born in Ypsilanti, MI and raised in Monroeville, PA. She attended Gateway High School, where she joined the environmental club and began her journey into the field of environmental sciences. She graduated from Chatham University where she majored in Environmental Biology with a focus in sustainability and plant science. During her time there she was involved with the student body as class president and resident assistant. Odera also had the opportunity to be directly a part of Chatham’s arboretum as a student groundskeeper which gave her more experience with understanding the natural world. After school, she worked with the Oasis Farm and Fishery Project for her church in Homewood which developed her interest in community engagement and environmental justice. Odera then continued to work with communities as field staff with Western PA Conservancy where she got experience working with members of the community. Now, at Grounded Strategies, she hopes to apply these skills, knowledge, and interests to create spaces that allow any and all communities to learn and interact with the natural world.

During her free time, Odera is a freelance photographer, enjoys drawing, reading, and spending time outside.
