Krysty Kunkel

Land Steward Intern

Pronouns: she/her/hers
Krysty Kunkel grew up in Pittsburgh and graduated from Penn Hills High School. After high school, she earned her B.S. in Psychology from Edinboro University. Mental health has always been an area of interest and Krysty has spent the years following her undergrad working within the range of direct care. Most of Kyrsty’s experience has consisted of providing therapeutic support to children recovering from severe trauma and mental diagnoses at a residential treatment facility.

She became interested in the impact that external elements – such as economic disparity and pollution – have on mental health and wellbeing. Currently, Krysty is attending the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Pittsburgh where she focuses on understanding ways to address these issues through community development and policy.

Krysty decided to intern at Grounded due to our comprehensive approach to community building and empowerment, as well as our attention to environmental concerns.

Beyond psychology and social work, Krysty’s interests include Yoga, jujitsu, art, video games, and board games.
