John Niederberger ReClaim South Ambassador, 2014 As an avid antique glass collector, John can tell you all about the glass that used to be produced in his neighborhood at the turn of the century. Cousins with Suzanne, they have reconnected recently to tackle a greening project together. He is interested in improving the quality of life of his neighbors by “declucking” vacant lots in his community. Click here to learn more about his project, St. Joseph’s Garden. ReClaim South Sustaining Momentum Ambassador, 2016 John loves his neighborhood of Mount Oliver City and the greater community of the Hilltop because it is filled with good neighbors and it is within close proximity to anywhere in the city. Beyond John’s work as an original ReClaim South Ambassador he is active in political associations and the Neighborhood Block Watch. Through his participation in the ReClaim South initiative he hopes to encourage people to spruce up their own properties to further instill pride in their neighborhood. As a returning Ambassador John advises new Ambassadors to not bite off more than they can chew. This year, John will be expanding on his garden by planting the steel slope on the St. Joseph St. side of the lot. He also has big plans to incorporate some rain water harvesting to help ease the chore of maintenance. If you have not had a chance to check out Johns site in person, learn more here.
