Charles Goodwin

Chair

Pronouns: he/him/his
Charlie leads BNY Mellon Capital Markets public finance investment banking practice which focuses on providing debt underwriting, financial advisory and other services for governments, authorities, hospitals, colleges, non-profits and certain project finance clients. He also initiated the firm’s Social Investing practice centered around deploying capital that will generate positive financial and social/environmental returns.

He joined the board because he was drawn to the work empowering communities around revitalizing neighborhoods through improving underutilized properties. In his profession, he has been working on creative solutions to finance the cost of complying with the Consent Decree relating to combined sewer overflows. He believes that Grounded’s efforts can be an important part of how the region addresses the problem. Finally, having safe places to play and enjoy are vital to healthy communities and he hopes that he can do his part to create more of them.

The work that Grounded Strategies does to inspire and assist members of neighborhoods to work together to improve their surroundings shows that even small changes can make dramatic improvements in the quality of life in a community.

Charlie likes to go on long bike rides with his wife and dog, trying to get to every new brewery in the region to sample their newest beers, growing vegetables for the local fauna to consume, debating arcane issues with my children and pretending that he can still play soccer by joining an adult league.
