January 2019 TRCPA Meeting – Recognizing / Responding to an Active Shooter Event Three Rivers Contingency Planning Association (TRCPA)

January 11, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

free

On January 11, 2019, from 1-3 p.m., the Three Rivers Contingency Planning Association TRCPA) will hold

The topic is Recognizing / Responding to an Active Shooter Event, and the speaker is Thomas Hart, Chief of Police / Director of Public Safety at Duquesne University.

What if you found yourself in an active shooter event? Would you know how to recognize signs of potential violence around you and how to properly respond to give yourself the best chance to survive?

Active shooter incidents are often unpredictable and evolve quickly. In the midst of the chaos, everyone should have some basic training skills to help them in mitigating the impacts of an active shooter incident. The goal of this training will be to enhance an individual’s preparedness to properly respond to an active shooter incident.

Tom Hart, Chief of Police/Director of Public Safety at Duquesne University, has been instructing people since 1999 to empower them with a common-sense approach to recognize warning signs; and how to properly respond to protect themselves, and others, should they become involved in an active shooter event. A key objective of Tom’s program is to encourage the education and training that will provide people with the tools necessary to be prepared to respond and react to an active shooter situation.
