Ian Brown

Project Mgr: Youth Engagement

Ian holds a master’s degree in Public Policy and Affairs with a focus on environmental policy from the University at Albany:SUNY and a bachelor’s degree in Conservation Science from Muskingum University. Ian has multiple years of experience working in the government and nonprofit sectors in land use planning, community development and environmental education in cities throughout the country. Ian enjoys using his planning and policy background at GTECH. Working at GTECH provides Ian an opportunity to work on environmental topics such as land use decisions while helping improve communities.

Most recently, Ian worked with the Borough of Etna as the Economic Development Manager and the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources as a River Basin Program Consultant, particularly managing a program to develop and provide brochures and maps to schools on North Carolina’s seventeen river basins. He also worked at the City of Redmond and the City of Sammamish in Washington State as a Parks Planner, to help revamp their respective master plans and work on trail accessibility and connectivity within the city. While living in Albany, NY Ian worked as a Land Use Planner with the Adirondack Mountain Club to analyze and develop a management plan for 3 million acres of privately owned forest.

Ian enjoys being outside, hanging out with his wife Elena and kids, Evan and Solana. Ian grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio and enjoys going back to visit his parents. Chillicothe was Ohio’s first capital as well as home to the popular outdoor drama Tecumseh!
