Raqueeb Bey Uptown Ambassador “If utilized properly, [energy] can be a force to be reckoned with” About Me. I have lived in Uptown for 32 years and am the proud mother of six wonderful children – my oldest is 23 and my baby is 2 years old. I am on the board of directors for Uptown Partners, and the Landslide Community Farm, and serve as the President (and Founder) of a grassroots youth program called Mama Africa’s Green Scouts. As a community activist, I enjoy doing work in my neighborhood to make it a better place to live. I love to read, I love to dance and I love good music of all genres. I enjoy planting gardens and helping people be ‘greener’ across the board! What is your proudest achievement? Building our [Landslide Community Farm’s] youth program in the last four seasons is an achievement that I am proud of. I did not do it by myself, though, I have an awesome team! What is your favorite thing about your neighborhood? My favorite place in Uptown is our garden on Moultrie. What does community mean to you? Community means a unit of people that share culture, space and a yearning for a better life together.
