Ariam Ford

Interim Executive Director

Ariam believes that you can do the most good where you are. As a City Planner, she has a desire to work in her own community at the local scale, and to make a lasting impact on the built environment through a grassroots, equitable community engagement process. Grounded is the perfect place for Ariam to apply her passions to a proven, results-driven process of community change

Previously, Ariam was working as a military master planner with Michael Baker International. As a master planner, her job was to facilitate an engaging real property planning process for stakeholders. In this capacity, she helped residents to evaluate and plan the future of U.S. capital assets worldwide.

When she’s not working, you might find Ariam taking a day trip to Presque Isle, restaurant hopping in Mt. Washington, or riding the ferry to a Pirates Game. Ariam grew up in the suburbs of DC just north of the city. She realized early on that suburban life wasn’t for her, and has spent nearly the last decade in three amazing American cities. Charlottesville and Boston were great, but she now calls Pittsburgh home.
