Nathan Porter

Marketing & Communications Manager (shared)

For 12 years Nathan served in many diverse roles in the United States Air Force – from flying as
an Airborne Systems Engineer aboard the RC-135 Rivet Joint, to 7 years in Aircraft Metals
Technology, before finishing his career as a Boom Operator aboard the KC-135 Stratotanker.
During this time, he earned three Associate of Applied Science degrees in Aviation Operations,
Metals Technology, and Air & Space Operations Technology.

Growing up in the Allegheny National Forest, Nathan has always had a love for the outdoors
and an interest in making sure our Earth and its people thrive. He has spent the past 10 years
volunteering, leading, and working for nonprofits centered around equity, inclusion, social
justice, environmental justice, and climate change. Currently, he is a Pittsburgh Chapter Lead
for Minority Veterans of America where he has had the opportunity to connect the minority
veteran community of Pittsburgh to needed resources, as well as speak to and write a testimony
to the United States Congress.

Throughout both his volunteer and professional career, he has served as a trained instructor,
supervisor, leader, mentor, and activist in various settings. As he looked at transitioning out of
the Air Force, he aimed to pivot into something he was passionate about – something that he
really loved. Eventually, he arrived at his current position, and is shared between Grounded
Strategies and Landforce Pgh. He is excited to put his life experience to work doing something
meaningful for our earth, our city, and its communities.

In his free time, Nathan is also an artist and enjoys welding, metal sculpture, and pottery to
name a few. He has three dogs, and two goats which bring him joy and laughs every day.
