Jahqwahn Watson

Jahqwahn Watson grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended The College of Wooster where they earned a degree in Africana Studies. At Wooster, they devoted much of their time to organizations such as the Black Students Organization and Word of Mouth poetry club. They also served as an intern with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion where they initiated support networks, such as the Ancestral & Indigenous Spiritualities support group, for minority and LGBTQIA+ individuals. Following their time at Wooster, Jahqwahn served as a Servant Leader intern with the Children’s Defense Fund where they led and supported students in critical and creative analysis.

Jahqwahn joined the Grounded team because of their commitment to community empowerment and reclamation of communal space.

In their free time, Jahqwahn enjoys meditation within nature and the books of their favorite authors. Jahqwahn is a part of the East End cohort.
