SUMMARY:ReClaim the Route
DESCRIPTION:As a part of an annual partnership with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon\, GTECH and community partners work to activate one of the hundreds of vacant lots that line the marathon route. This year\, GTECH will partner with Operation Better Block\, a Homewood based community development organization\, to activate and program a lot along Frankstown Avenue. There will be food\, entertainment and fun to add to the already festive atmosphere that makes Homewood the number one neighborhood for runners to run through during the event. \nTo add to the festivities\, Canstruction Pittsburgh will be on site to build a one-of-a-kind structure made entirely of donated canned food while thousands of runners pass by the site. All canned food used during the construction of the structure will then be donated back to a local food bank for distribution. We are looking for volunteers to help with the construction of the structure and to come out and have a good time with us! \nYou can help in two ways: \n1.  Sign up to volunteer with us on May 3rd at Pittsburgh Cares \n \n  \n  \n2. Purchase 365 canned goods at Whole Foods and drop them off in the ReClaim the Route donation bin. \n \n  \n

SUMMARY:TEDxPittsburgh
DESCRIPTION:IDEAS THAT BRIDGE THE REGION\nTEDxPittsburgh is Pittsburgh’s platform for showcasing the ideas\, individuals and innovations that are redefining the Steel City. \nOur city is best known for the steel forged on the banks of its three rivers. Bridges and a blue-collar work ethic have come to define our region. \nAlthough present day Pittsburgh is comparatively devoid of iron furnaces and steels mills\, our reputation for hard work remains. We’ve replaced the relics of the industrial revolution with corporate headquarters\, co-working spaces\, art galleries and idea labs. \nWe are in the midst of a city-wide renaissance. Thanks to the efforts of our city’s incredible network of inventors\, entrepreneurs\, artists and humanitarians\, the innovations taking place in our backyard are once again laying the foundation for the future of our city and the world. \nSo join us for a day of ideas and inspiration\, as 10 locally-grown speakers share unique thoughts and perspectives that connect us to one another. \nYour ticket includes not only the speaker session\, but also light refreshments throughout the day. TEDx is an independently organized\, community-based version of the larger TED-experience. \nVenue Details\nByham Theater\n101 6th Street | Pittsburgh\, PA | Directions \n\nView Seating Chart\n\n\n  \nAccessible Services\n\n\n \nNote: All services may not be available at all performances.
