SUMMARY:FSMA: Produce Grower Certification Training (PSA)
DESCRIPTION:The course will provide fruit and vegetable growers & processors a foundation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs)\, co-management of natural resources and food safety information\, FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements\, and details on how to develop a farm food safety plan. Even if you are not required to have the certificate\, it is excellent food safety training and also coordinates well with GAP certification requirements. \nThe PSA certified trainers will spend approximately seven hours of instruction time covering content contained in these seven modules: \nIntroduction to Produce Safety\nWorker Health\, Hygiene\, and Training\nSoil Amendments\nWildlife\, Domesticated Animals\, and Land Use\nAgricultural Water (Part I: Production Water; Part II: Postharvest Water)\nPostharvest Handling and Sanitation \nAfter attending the entire course\, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that verifies they have completed the training course. To receive an AFDO certificate\, a participant must be present for the entire training and submit the appropriate paperwork to their trainer at the end of the course. \nPennsylvania Farmers Union (PFU) is a policy and advocacy organization that represents family farmers in Pennsylvania. This course is offered in collaboration with the Local Food Safety Collaborative lead by National Farmers Union. The goal of this work is to provide outreach\, education and training to small local food producers and processors on the Produce Safety and Preventative Controls rules of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). General admission is at $150 for the food system community. Discounted rates ($30 – $50) are made available through additional support from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Pennsylvania Growers and Producers who meet grant criteria by agreeing to share their contact information with Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture are eligible for the discounted rates. All attendees completing the course will receive a workbook worth $50 and a Certificate worth $35. Coffee (beverage) and lunch service will be provided

DESCRIPTION:Join the Clean Rivers Campaign\, the Negley Run Watershed Task Force\, and residents of the Negley Run Watershed to hear from the man who led Philadelphia’s green-first plan that’s transforming the City. \nHoward is currently a professor of Practice in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science in the School of Arts and Sciences. Neukrug is the former Commissioner and CEO of Philadelphia Water\, where he was responsible for all aspects of utility operations\, environmental compliance\, engineering\, financing\, budgeting\, capital and strategic planning\, customer service\, human resources\, and legal and policy decisions for its drinking water/wastewater/stormwater system serving 2.3 million people. At Penn\, he is establishing a Water Center and teaching courses on the water industry and the role of water in urban sustainability and resiliency. Wormsley who will share their experiences capturing the multi-faceted stories of urban spaces. Levy’s work includes the Rain Ravine at the Frick Environmental Center. Wormsley’s body of work includes There Are Black People in the Future and The People Are the Light. Hood\, who works across the country\, has deep connections to Pittsburgh as he led the Green Print master plan for the Hill District and is the commissioned artist for that neighborhood’s Curtain Call community art project. As always\, the inspiring conversation comes with dinner\, drinks\, and a warm and inclusive community atmosphere.

This half‐day symposium\, hosted by Chatham University’s Women’s Institute\, will bring the expertise of gender scholars and community leaders into conversation with GEC commissioners to consider how to reach this vision.
