More importantly\, most of these vacant lots are concentrated in black and brown communities that are also low-income\, creating an environmental and racial justice emergency. \nGrounded elevates community champions and their efforts to reclaim these abandoned spaces\, and turn them into vibrant community assets for everyone to enjoy. More importantly\, the majority of these vacant lots are concentrated in black and brown communities that happen to also be low-income\, creating an environmental and racial justice emergency. \nGrounded elevates community champions and their efforts to reclaim these abandoned spaces\, and turn them into vibrant community assets for everyone to enjoy. Come along and see these sites firsthand and meet the neighborhood advocates making it happen!  \nCostumes encouraged! A Prize for best costume will be determined by guest judges!!! \nAt each stop\, we will speak to community partners\, learning about their journey and the transformation of vacant spaces into activated places. For those who do not have a bike\, Healthy Ride bikes will be available for use! Since 2010\, we’ve supported 100 gardens\, engaging over 2\,000 individuals as they’ve grown over 300\,000 pounds of food. Your ticket to Garden Get Down will help continue this vital work for years to come. \nGarden Get Down is a fundraiser with sliding scale tickets. Please give as generously as you can. All proceeds benefit Grow Pittsburgh’s work to teach people how to grow food and promote the benefits gardens bring to our neighborhoods. \nThis event is all ages but children must be accompanied by an adult. DESCRIPTION:Wigle Whiskey is hosting its annual tree sale where proceeds will be divided between 2 organizations over 3 weekend days. We are looking for volunteers to help staff up the sales at the barrel house (assist with tree selection\, wrapping/tying/loading\, and tabling and merchandise sales). If you can’t stay for a full shift but would still like to help\, please email info@groundedpgh.org with “Tree Sale” in the subject line and we’ll include you.\n\n\n\n\nIf you haven’t participated or attended this in the past\, it’s actually quite fun. People can register in advance\, all buyers get a complimentary drink ticket and there is usually a food truck to keep people going along with games and good cheer. We’re hoping to provide 3-4 volunteers for each shift and can rotate people if needed. \n\nVolunteer!

DESCRIPTION:This year’s Bike Tour & Block Party event will feature Grounded’s projects in Pittsburgh’s Northside neighborhoods. \nAt each stop\, we will speak to community partners\, learning about their journey and the transformation of vacant spaces into activated places. For those who do not have a bike\, Healthy Ride bikes will be available for use! Before we head out for the tour\, we will have a local bike shop\, Waxwing Cycles LLC. present to check rider bicycles before the start\, so arrive early! \nAfter the guided bike tour\, we will celebrate with our friends and community partners at a block party outside of Providence Connections. \nThe family-friendly block party will feature: \n\nLa Palapa food truck\nFunnel cakes & popcorn\nFace painting\nCornhole\nLive music by Smokestack Lightning\nBeer from Southern Tier and other non-alcoholic refreshments\nOther games and treats!\n\nTickets include the guided bike tour\, breakfast and snacks along the way\, and a little swag\, as well as complimentary drinks and snacks at the block party – sign up today! \n \n  \n\nSpecial thank you to our generous sponsors: \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n
