SUMMARY:Wethoptober 2015
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy fresh-hopped libations\, good conversation\, autumnal treats and great music at the Wethoptober Fundraiser.\nIn 2013\, GTECH set out to grow hops on an unused\, vacant portion of Garfield Community Farm to see whether it could be a creative (and delicious) way to reuse some of the 4\,500 acres of vacant land in the city. With the help of Noah of the Hop Project and the fine farmers of Garfield Farm\, we planted to grow a few varieties of hops for East End Brewery and — guess what — it worked! \nInspired by the Hops on Lots project\, GTECH throws the annual Wethoptober Fundraiser to celebrate and support our projects that creatively reuse vacant lots. This year we’re partnering with Wigle Whiskey and East End Brewery to offer an evening of wet-hopped brews and hopped whiskey\, tasty food and great conversation at Wigle Whiskey Barrel House located in the Northside neighborhood of Spring Garden. \n For $30 you will receive: \n-A 12oz GTECH Beer Glass – yours to take home\n-One hopped whiskey cocktail\n-Three 6oz pours from three unique hopped beers from East End Brewery\n-Two free raffle tickets\n-Tasting demos with samples of hopped whiskey \nLive Music and Food Trucks onsite with autumn themed menus from Berlin Street Foods and Brownstone Wood Fired Brick Oven.  Note: Tickets sold out last year\, don’t hesitate to purchase yours today. \nSponsored By:\n \n  \n

SUMMARY:ReClaim the Route
DESCRIPTION:As a part of an annual partnership with the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon\, GTECH and community partners work to activate one of the hundreds of vacant lots that line the marathon route. This year\, GTECH will partner with Operation Better Block\, a Homewood based community development organization\, to activate and program a lot along Frankstown Avenue. There will be food\, entertainment and fun to add to the already festive atmosphere that makes Homewood the number one neighborhood for runners to run through during the event. \nTo add to the festivities\, Canstruction Pittsburgh will be on site to build a one-of-a-kind structure made entirely of donated canned food while thousands of runners pass by the site. All canned food used during the construction of the structure will then be donated back to a local food bank for distribution. We are looking for volunteers to help with the construction of the structure and to come out and have a good time with us! \nYou can help in two ways: \n1.  Sign up to volunteer with us on May 3rd at Pittsburgh Cares \n \n  \n  \n2. Purchase 365 canned goods at Whole Foods and drop them off in the ReClaim the Route donation bin. \n \n  \n
