SUMMARY:CommunityCare Gathering
DESCRIPTION:Grounded is excited to host the first-ever CommunityCare Gathering – an event to bring together resident stewards that are working in Homewood\, Larimer\, and Wilkinsburg to beautify their neighborhood. To date\, CommunityCare stewards have invested more than 1\,300 hours improving their community. Each and every steward is a part of that amazing number and we want to take the time to reflect on this great accomplishment and what it means for the program and our communities.  \nThis event will be a celebration of the work the stewards are doing in their community as well as a way to learn about what other CommunityCare cohorts are focusing on. We will invite stewards to share lessons learned\, challenges\, and unique strengths of your neighborhood approach. Whether you’re a brand new steward or have been doing this work for years\, we want to hear from you. Please come when you can and stay at long as you can!

We will be working on our Braddock Youth Ambassador project – an outdoor community space between the Hollander Project and Braddock Youth Garden. \n\nWhat is Remake Learning Days? \n(From Remake Learning) \nRemake Learning Days Across America (RLDAA) is a celebration of innovative experiences and opportunities for youth to develop their sense of creativity\, perseverance and curiosity. Remake Learning Days is a festival of events hosted by a variety of organizations\, such as schools\, museums\, libraries\, after school organizations\, early child care centers\, universities\, media centers\, tech startups and more.  These events are designed to be hands-on\, relevant and engaging educational experiences for youth of all ages (pre-K through high school) and their families\, caregivers and educators.   The majority of events are free and open to kids of all ages. \nWhat can I expect to do at this event? \nProjects may include construction with hand and power tools\, painting\, landscaping\, or planting. There will be something for everyone! \nWhat do I need to bring?  \nPlease wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that can get paint & dirt on it. Some paints we use are not washable from clothing. We will provide safety equipment and all tools\, as well as water and snacks. \n\nRegister below!\n\n\n\n \n \n ReMake Learning Days: Contact Anna at anna@groundedpgh.org or (412) 361-2099 x 6#. \n  \nThis project is part of Grounded’s Resilience Generation (ReGen) Program. In 2018\, Grounded started working with Pretty Up Beechview (PUB) to spruce up neglected land at the entrance of the Seldom Seen Greenway. Recognizing that there are numerous greenways through the city with dedicated stewardship groups like PUB\, this workshop is meant to bring together that network to build capacity and share experience.
